Woulda coulda shoulda … If I knew then, what I know now...

Save…save…save!!

I truly didn’t understand that concept during my college years. There were so many ways that I could have cut costs and expenses, but I didn’t think twice about not buying what I considered to be small luxuries. I was thinking that living off of Top Ramen and frozen pizzas was enough to consider myself a bank saving college student. But the fact that every time that I looked at my bank statements, my savings account never got bigger, in fact, it was decreasing at the rate of a newly purchased car as you drive it off the lot.

Now that I think of it, I should have created a “safety net” for that window of time right when I got out of school. You know, that time of limbo where you are not in school and you are not earning any salary yet either.

Before you can even save, you have to learn “not to overspend.” Try to keep from dining out as often, and hold back from those impulsive buys.

If I knew how much of a grind it was going to be straight out of school, I may have planned to have some savings to live on so that I could concentrate on my job searching at that time.
